Daily Outfit: And So It Goes...

2011Dec29 4

So I guess this is the last outfit post of the year. There haven't been a lot lately, I realize. I've been busy and frankly I'm not sure how much longer I will keep up taking pictures of my outfits on a regular basis. I'm not going to shut down the blog, I've at least decided that, but there will be some different things going on here at Pixie in Pumps as 2012 unfolds. I want to share more of my interest here instead of having it so pigeon holed as a daily style blog. What that means exactly I don't know for sure yet. I am working on a list of 13 things to do before 2013 and so I think I want to integrate that in here. Highlighting when I accomplish one of the goals and updating progress on a regular basis.

So I hope you guy hang in here with and see what 2012 brings to the blog. I really can't tell you how lucky I feel to have you guys as readers. It always brightens by day when I get a comment or a tweet or something from you guys. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for making 2011 special!

Daily Outfit: The Weapon We Have is Still Love

2011Dec20 1

So I really only had the one holiday party this year to attend for work, and it was the last thing before my week off for Christmas. This is what I wore and what I will probably wear for Christmas Eve dinner at my grandparents. Hey I definitely repeat outfits even if I don't show you guys! Loving that Holly does the Repeat Offender feature on her blog. It's nice to see people using things that worked once again and showing them off. I think it might be a little close together to show you this again in like 4 days, soooo yeah. Enjoy it now! =)

Also, I am such a nerd and have not been listening to holiday music the past few days while baking, but listening to this Ministry of Magic album. It makes me happy. Which reminds me. I watched Geek Love on TLC the other night and I have to say... I would love to go geek speed dating. I love me some geeks!

2011 Beauty Favorites

2011BeautyFavorites

Ok so I know some of you are thinking "Beauty Favorites? Since when does Jenni talk about beauty products?" And honestly I can't blame you for thinking that because 90% of the time I'm not even wearing make up in my outfit photos. But I've always had an interest in makeup and skincare, it's just developing more and more these days. So I'm hoping to start to include a bit of beauty into my blog. Probably just seasonal favorites for now. So anyways here are my ramblings on my 2011 beauty favorites.

[1] Birchbox - I get so excited when the beginning of the month rolls around and I know that my Birchbox will be on its way soon. If you don't know what Birchbox is, it is a monthly subscription service where you get a box each month for $10 that includes 5-6 deluxe samples of various beauty products. I have gotten some of the coolest things in my boxes and pretty much have Birchbox (and youtube) to thank (or blame) for my developing interest in beauty. I have discovered quite a few new favorites through Birchbox.

[2]
China Glaze - Midnight Kiss - I keep rediscovering this in my nail polish collection. It's such a beautiful shiny gold with silver undertones. It's obviously a lovely holiday color, but it's also so great for everyday. I get lots of compliments on this polish when I wear it. It's definitely the stand out in my polish collection.

[3] Blinc Mascara - I have probably only ever used three different kinds of mascara in my life for any length of time. I got a tiny sample of this in one of my Birchboxes and I seriously fell in love. It's a tube mascara and it's the strangest thing I've ever put on my eyelashes. Apparently it's made of a polymer or and it binds itself to your lashes until you want to take it off which only requires warm water and a tad bit of pressure. It comes off without me noticing when I'm washing my face at night, but I can honestly say that it is waterproof otherwise. I have bawled my eyes out more than once while wearing this mascara and it stayed in place. I'm a big big fan of this product.

[4] Lavanila Healthy Body Butter - Vanilla Lavender - I heard a beauty guru on Youtube talking about this lotion and how it is very moisturizing, but isn't greasy. I went the next day to Sephora to see what it was really like, and left with a full sized and purse sized tube. All of the scents smell divine (well not the vanilla coconut one, but that's because I don't care for coconut scents stuff) and it really is very moisturizing and within minutes i can use my touch screen phone like I never put on lotion.

[5] Travalo - I have no idea where I heard about this, probably youtube, but this is one of those things that you don't realize you need until you know it exists. It's an atomizer that you can put down on the pump on your perfume and fill and refill. They hold 50 sprays and you can literally throw this sucker around and it wont break or spill or leak. I carry one in my purse all the time and they are perfect for carry on luggage. I just really don't know what I did without these things.

[6]
Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter - Ok I have to admit that my love for these lip butters borders on an obsession. I literally hunted down a few of these colors (I have 8 of the 20 shades). And why this is so funny is that I generally don't wear a lot of lip products and I am definitely not a lipstick wearer. This, however, is like a holy grail lip product. It's more like a lip balm or a chopstick than a lip gloss. It's crazy moisturizing, but then they are incredibly pigmented. So it's really the best of so many lip product worlds. i am simply in love.

Daily Outfit: Date Night in December

2011Dec9 1

So I had a date Friday with someone I've known for a long time. It was really nice, he cooked me an amazing dinner and dessert and we hung out and watched a movie. It was a great low key night with good company. I was convinced I had way too much make up on because I don't wear make up all that often, but now that I see it in the pictures it doesn't look like nearly as much as I thought it was. Ha. It actually looks nice. Annnnd this dress looks nice as a tunic over skinnies as well as when I wear it just as a dress. Awesome.

Also, I'm obsessed with youtube beauty gurus, so please recommend me your favorites!

Daily Outfit: Thanks to Pinterest I Got Dressed

2011Nov28 3

Yeah so as you can see the porch pictures have returned. I don't particularly love taking pictures on my porch, but honestly it was either this or essentially shut the blog down, and I didn't want to do that. I really enjoy blogging and I have so many days that I think man I can't wait to show my awesome readers this outfit, but then never get around to taking pictures because going to one of my locations or finding a new one is just too much to do during the day especially when it's dark by the time that I get home from work most of the time. So re-enter porch pictures.

Also, I have Pinterst to thank for me getting dress this day.
