Ok so I know some of you are thinking "Beauty Favorites? Since when does Jenni talk about beauty products?" And honestly I can't blame you for thinking that because 90% of the time I'm not even wearing make up in my outfit photos. But I've always had an interest in makeup and skincare, it's just developing more and more these days. So I'm hoping to start to include a bit of beauty into my blog. Probably just seasonal favorites for now. So anyways here are my ramblings on my 2011 beauty favorites.
[1] Birchbox - I get so excited when the beginning of the month rolls around and I know that my Birchbox will be on its way soon. If you don't know what Birchbox is, it is a monthly subscription service where you get a box each month for $10 that includes 5-6 deluxe samples of various beauty products. I have gotten some of the coolest things in my boxes and pretty much have Birchbox (and youtube) to thank (or blame) for my developing interest in beauty. I have discovered quite a few new favorites through Birchbox.
[2] China Glaze - Midnight Kiss - I keep rediscovering this in my nail polish collection. It's such a beautiful shiny gold with silver undertones. It's obviously a lovely holiday color, but it's also so great for everyday. I get lots of compliments on this polish when I wear it. It's definitely the stand out in my polish collection.
[3] Blinc Mascara - I have probably only ever used three different kinds of mascara in my life for any length of time. I got a tiny sample of this in one of my Birchboxes and I seriously fell in love. It's a tube mascara and it's the strangest thing I've ever put on my eyelashes. Apparently it's made of a polymer or and it binds itself to your lashes until you want to take it off which only requires warm water and a tad bit of pressure. It comes off without me noticing when I'm washing my face at night, but I can honestly say that it is waterproof otherwise. I have bawled my eyes out more than once while wearing this mascara and it stayed in place. I'm a big big fan of this product.
[4] Lavanila Healthy Body Butter - Vanilla Lavender - I heard a beauty guru on Youtube talking about this lotion and how it is very moisturizing, but isn't greasy. I went the next day to Sephora to see what it was really like, and left with a full sized and purse sized tube. All of the scents smell divine (well not the vanilla coconut one, but that's because I don't care for coconut scents stuff) and it really is very moisturizing and within minutes i can use my touch screen phone like I never put on lotion.
[5] Travalo - I have no idea where I heard about this, probably youtube, but this is one of those things that you don't realize you need until you know it exists. It's an atomizer that you can put down on the pump on your perfume and fill and refill. They hold 50 sprays and you can literally throw this sucker around and it wont break or spill or leak. I carry one in my purse all the time and they are perfect for carry on luggage. I just really don't know what I did without these things.
[6] Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter - Ok I have to admit that my love for these lip butters borders on an obsession. I literally hunted down a few of these colors (
I have 8 of the 20 shades). And why this is so funny is that I generally don't wear a lot of lip products and I am definitely not a lipstick wearer. This, however, is like a holy grail lip product. It's more like a lip balm or a chopstick than a lip gloss. It's crazy moisturizing, but then they are incredibly pigmented. So it's really the best of so many lip product worlds. i am simply in love.
