Daily Outfit: The Phoenix Sings a Song in Our Hearts

2010May31 1

So this is the outfit that I've worn three times and never taken outfit shots of. I thought this would be a good time to finally show it off, since you know I'm styling up this shirt and all. I love this shirt with this dress. The colors are fun. I feel like I've been giving you guys a lot of outfits with this shirt and neutrals so I'm going to try and style it up a bit more colorfully.

It's getting really hot already here. I'm not digging it. I'm a fall and early spring kind of girl, so I do not particularly look forward to the 80/90 degree weather parts of the year. It's far too early for it to be this hot... seriously... if it's this hot now I might burst into flames by mid-august. So if I suddenly stop posting it means I went all phoenix on you and will be born again from the ashes sometime in September.

Daily Outfit: Faded Stickers & Crumpled Flyers, They've Become the Reminder

2010May26 2

I'm sure many of you looked at that first picture and though "What in the world??" Yeah I know... NOT my usual style at all. So I'll tell you how this came about. So I had these jeans on already because the weather channel called for more hail yesterday and I was not taking my chances this time so I took the giant blue bubble wrap (it was the solar blanket to my parents' pool) out and covered my dad's car in the rain. Yeah one car totaled due to hail damage is enough for this girl! And so when I came back in I was too lazy to change pants so I pulled on this top that I'm styling up. Then I was inspired by a conversation I had on twitter to pull out my old converses. I've had these babies for more than ten years. They've survived years of constant wear and many mosh pits, including a particularly crazy one at a Less Than Jake show where one of them came off and I had to find it in the chaos and spent the rest of the show dancing with on shoe on and the other in my hand. You can't really tell till you're looking at them in person, but the black lines are drawn on with a sharpie on three sides because the rubber piping has fallen off. They've had it rough.

So anyways. So then I had on the jeans, the shoes, and the top. I looked in the mirror and thought hey let's give that slouchy boyfriend thing a try. So I rolled up the jeans and threw on the white button down... it was way too light so I added the vest and then I untied the top to make it look more like a loosened tie. I would probably not wear this again, but it was fun to give it a try.

Daily Outfit: And the Little Plastic Castle is a Surprise Every Time

2010May23 2

So as you can see you guys chose the Polka Dot Tucker for Target top for me to remix this time around. So I'll be putting together five looks styled around this top! I'm really looking forward to it!

So I'm glad I had already styled this outfit up and hung it in my closet to be worn Monday because if I had not... I think I would have gone out the door with pants on my head.  I had every intention of getting up two hours before I needed to leave for my meeting and going for a walk/run, showering, eating breakfast, getting dressed, and then prepping for my meeting. I had it all figured out. Until it was four AM and I was still wide awake. By two I had gotten up and done all the meeting prep, by three I had resigned to watching the Kim Possible movie on late night Disney Channel. And after resetting my alarm clock a few times during the night it went off at 8am and I some how managed to eat something, get dressed and head out the door. I felt like i had a fish tank for a brain. I kept half expecting a goldfish to swim through my field of vision. It was not a very pleasant day. But on the upside the meeting went decent enough considering my fish tank brain.

Daily Outfit: We're Up All Night to See the Sun Come Up Again

2010May20 2

Let's talk about two things... First, my fingernails are so fun! I got this idea from Pinterest (big surprise) and the first time I laid eyes on it I couldn't wait to give it a go.  So pretty and sparkly and girly. It's love folks, it really is. And second, I found this location and got very excited about the prospect of taking photos here. It's a skate park that doesn't look like it gets much use. Well I will be making use of it... I had a lot of fun climbing on things and trying out different photo angles. I love finding new locations.

Daily Outfit: Bubble Bubble Toilin' Trouble

2010May19 2

So what are you doing this weekend?  Me? Oh I'll be watching Harry Potter movies on ABC Family and reading Harry Potter books... while eating wizard candy.  Yeah, I'm a freak... I know.  Moving on.

I think I'm going to finally get around to trying my hand at Natasha's skirt DIY this weekend too... that or a bit more scrapbooking. I'm just thrilled to have actual whole weekends at home right now. It's a nice feeling to have no obligations on the weekend. I know one thing I'll definitely be doing... sleeping the heck in. I can't wait.

Daily Outfit: The Clock is Getting Louder Waiting For Me to Decide

2010May14 3

So I looked in the mirror and decided not to take outfit pictures on Saturday because my bangs were all crazy and I didn't feel like washing my hair to remedy the problem. Then I put on a really cute outfit and decided I didn't care that my bangs look crazy. I still care that they look crazy... but I liked this outfit too much to not share it for hair reasons.

Speaking of bangs. I think I'm over them. I've had them for more than a year now and I'm just tired of dealing with them and also I'm bored with my hair options with the bangs. I want my non-bangs back so I can play around with fun vintage hair styles and such. So I think it's time to let them start growing out. What I'd really like to do with my hair I'm not going to do because I know about a month after I do it I'll regret it (since I have curly hair and this would end in too much work for me or a poodle on top of my noggin), soooo... I'll stick to getting rid of the bangs and playing with vintage hair styles again.

Daily Outfit: The Streets Were Wet and the Gate Was Locked

2010May13 4

Ok so the rain went away in time for me to take outfit pictures AND get groceries. But just so you know I did choose food over photos when I thought I had to make a choice. Pretty much when the choice is between anything and food... food will win. I love food. But when the rain cleared up I was literally giddy at the idea of umbrella pictures. Is that ridiculous? A little bit... but this blogging stuff does tend to make one that crazy girl with the camera who runs outside with her umbrella between rainstorms... But I think I'm ok with that.

Daily Outfit: And the Sidewalk Soldiers Sing the Midnite Blues

2010May12 5

Hey look a Saturday post! This is unusual. I thought since posting has been so irregular for the last few week that I would post an outfit today instead of holding it until Monday. I'll got back to not posting the weekend next weekend, though!

From the first time I saw this outfit on Kendi I knew I had to recreate it since I have a nearly identical pencil skirt. I found this adorable shirt at Dillards the other day on the clearance rack and I was in love before it even occurred to me that it was PERFECT for recreating this outfit. You're going to see quite a bit of this top this summer I have a feeling. It looks so good with just about everything... and it's so soft and comfortable! I love it when I come across pieces like this, especially when their on clearance!
