Daily Outfit: These Boots are Made for Walking, and That's Just What They'll Do

2010Dec29 3

I have always loved this dress.  I've had it for a few years and I don't wear it nearly as often as I should, but I have to say it is definitely a favorite in my closet.  And yeah I know... I'm wearing the boots again.  I could totally live in these babies!  I have worn nearly every day since I got them on Christmas day.  When I told my mom I didn't want to take them off she told that when I was little I got these red fringed cowboy boots from my mamaw for Christmas one year and I literally would not take them off.  I SLEPT in them that night.  I wore them practically every day until they finally fell apart, thought funny enough... there are very few pictures of me wearing them.

Daily Outfit: A Splash of Color

2010Dec28 4

I love the color palette of this outfit. Love both mustard yellow and rust, but had been terrified to wear them becuase they don't suit my skin tone. I've practically worn these tights out with how much I've worn them. When I came across this skirt I was really excited about it because it gave me a chance to try out mustard since its not near my face and can't make me look washed out or sickly. In short. I love this outfits colors.

I really can't believe this year is almost over. I really feel like I have accomplished nearly nothing this year. I had so many big plans for 2010... and I really didn't do a lot to accomplish any of them. Shame on me. I'm making a point of making myself a health/fitness routine that I can handle and stick to to start out my year and hopefully I can succeed in getting into shape. I've always wanted to be one of those running types... but I have never done a very good job of disciplining myself into a routine. This year will be different.

Currently Reading: 2010 Reads

2010Reads

My favorite book that I read this year was definitely Gone with the Wind.  And it started me on a real kick to read those books that everyone seems to think are must reads from over the years.  I'm now in the process of reading all of Jane Austen's books in the order that she wrote them.  It should be interesting!

What is your favorite book that you read this year?

Enjoying a White Christmas with My Family

Christmas day was a bit different this year than any other year due to the snow. It was a little more laid back than usual, but longer and infused with a dash of madness! First thing in the morning I threw on snow clothes and dashed out into the snow. There was much flopping down in the snow and rolling around.

2010Christmas 1

And even a little snowman building with my dad. Our very Titans snow man had lemons for eyes and a banana for a nose. Isn't he silly!

2010Christmas 2

Then my sister and her husband brought the girls over for opening presents at my parents' house. Caitlin was content to be held all day and listen to all the chaos while Caroline wanted to be left alone with her play kitchen which was a present from Nana and Granddaddy.

2010Christmas 3

We usually get over to my mamaw and papaw's house before noon, but this year it was more like one before we made it there. But the usual coveted breakfast of ham biscuits was still as delicious as ever.

2010Christmas 4

We didn't think everyone was going to make it there because half of them live on a mountain where roads were being closed like crazy, but they did. There are so many of us now that there's barely room for everyone and the gifts... it was a complete zoo this year.

2010Christmas 5

After that we always go to my aunt's on my dad's side to eat lunch with his family. This year I was only there about an hour before heading home before it got dark since we didn't get there until four. It was a long, but enjoyable Christmas! And I loved the novelty of a White Christmas! I hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday as well!

Daily Outfit: White Christmas

2010Dec25 1

All day my mom and dad and I would answer phones by singing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the one I never had!" This is honestly the first white Christmas I can ever remember.  And I was SO excited when I woke up.  I put my snow stuff on over my pajamas and sped outside to build a snowman with my dad and flop in the snow like a child.  It was AMAZING!

Our usual Christmas plans were all kinds of pushed back and messed up this year because of the snow, but it made for a very laid back Christmas.  I'll do a little Christmas post tomorrow to share the fun/madness of the day.

These boots were one of my Christmas presents, and I could not wait to put them on.  They are even more spectacular than I imagined them to be!  They worked well with the snow, but not so well with the ice.  My grandparents' driveway is steep and someone thought it as a good idea for me to carry two boxes of dishes down the driveway... I kid you not it was like bambi's first attempt at standing... I slid down the driveway a few feet and then tottered onto the road.  Somehow I managed not to fall down or break anything... but man it was sketchy there for a minute!

Daily Outfit: Christmas Eve Dinner

2010Dec24 3

That's right... I went running around to find a different place to take outfit photos on Christmas Eve. We were in fact almost late leaving because of my running off to take pictures. So for Christmas Eve we always eat dinner at my mom's parents' house. They set up card tables in the living room and have candle light and china and it's very pretty and super Christmasy.

I remember when I was little it was always an issue that my mamaw wanted the lights dimmed for effect. One year my cousin Joey turned the lights up ever so slightly and I kid you not within SECONDS of my mamaw being the room she was like "Who turned the lights up?" It was HILARIOUS. And another year my uncle Carl clipped a reading light to his ball cap and aimed it at his food. I was sitting across from him almost in tears I was laughing so hard. These days the lights aren't dimmed nearly as much, but no one dares touch them.

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays my lovely readers!  I will be taking a break for the next two days to enjoy time with my family, but I'll have pictures of my Christmas Eve and Christmas Day outfits for you when I get back.  It looks like we might get a white Christmas this year in TN, which I believe is the first time in my life that I can remember... though my mom says that it did snow one other time, but it was a long time ago.  So enjoy your Holidays and I will live you with a little eye candy of what the Holiday looks like in my apartment.

Daily Outfit: There Are Still Rules to Break

2010Dec21 3

I knew this day would come... the day I decided that indoor pictures were the only option.  It was raining and nasty and as bad the lighting indoors is, the lighting outside was going to be just as bad so I just decided to give indoor shots a try.  I like how they turned out and I love this chair and curtain, so hey I like them!

This dress is seriously one of my best buys.  I have styled it over and over and over again for every season.  The colors and the cut of it just let itself to every season and styling, I swear.  And depending on what I wear it with you notice different colors in it.  It's just fun that way.
