What:
Shirt: Target
Dress: Banana Republic
Tights: Target or Kohl's
Shoes: Naturalizers

Where:
Lunch and the Tennessee Aquarium with my mom, dad, sister, and 9 month old niece, and dinner and antiquing in East Ridge with my mom and aunt.

Comments:
My dad calls these my witchy boots becuase he has nicknames for everything and finds my fashion sense odd... mostly becuase god love him... he has none. I've always been the black sheep of the family when it comes to fashion choosing; style of comfort, dresses over jeans... more often than not. But these shoes were surprisingly comfortable to wear all day.

This was my niece's first time at the aquarium and I was so excited to show her all the fish and things. She got to see the sting rays, the butterflies, and the penguins, but promptly fell asleep the moment we got into the dark, warm area where all the fish were. She didn't even make it to the jellyfish room which she would have enjoyed staring at. Oh well, next time she'll be old enough to care... lesson learned nine months old is too young for the aquarium!

Additional Note: And on the note of antiques... check out the antique sewing machine I'm leaning on. It belonged to my great grandmother I believe... its been in the family awhile, and it still works just fine!

I would comment about the vintage dress... but I don't remember much about it other than I really like it. ha. Soooo...moving on. These are pretty much my favorite shoes and favorite tights... as you probably have noticed. I might have to pick up another pair of these tights if I can ever figure out if I bought them in gray or light gray... hmmm...

Daily Outfit: I Brought Pandas to the Luncheon

DSC_0005 2

DSC_0006 2

What:
Blouse: Target
Dress: Macy's? (maybe...)
Tights: Kohl's? (also maybe...)
Shoes:Naturalizers
Necklace: Gift
Bracelet: Vintage, from Knitting Mill Antiques
Tote: Lilly Pulitzer

Where:
Work and a Luncheon

About the Vintage:
I picked up this bracelet at Knitting Mill Antiques in Chattanooga. It's a sort of pewter colored filigree bangle with lots of intricate swirls and a sort of flower pattern to it. I love vintage bangles becuase they are smaller and clasp closed, as opposed to the newer kind of bangles that you just slip on. My wrist and hands are so thin that I have trouble keeping the newer kind on, but the vintage ones stay on perfectly... and have so much more character in my opinion.

Comments:
I am loving this new tote from Lilly Pulitzer. Anyone who knows me knows I love pandas. I even dressed up as one during Ring Night back in college... and I made a pretty fantastic panda if I do say so myself. So when I heard that Lilly was partnering with the World Wildlife Fund to do a panda pattern I was THRILLED. And while I wasn't particularly the biggest fan on some of the pieces, it took all of 5 seconds for me to settle on purchasing the tote. And a bonus, 10% of the proceeds of anything sold in this pattern go to the World Wildlife Fund. Basically a win win here.

Daily Outfit: Keeping Warm in Lilly

DSC_0053

What:
Sweaters: Lilly Pulitzer, from Belk
Top: Lilly Pulitzer, from Belk
Pants: Ann Taylor LOFT
Booties: Naturalizer

Where:
Work and Meeting in Grainger County

Comments:
I love Lilly Pulitzer. I fell in love with her colors, patterns, and story when I was in college at Hollins University. I think it is due to my love of Lilly that I have developed over the year into a more classic style because believe me... i was not into cardigans and shift dresses 10 years ago. In fact I wouldn't have been caught dead in a cardigan back then... now I don't think I could count how many cardigans I own, most of them Lilly.

What:
Dress: Target
Blouse: Target
Tights: welovecolors.com
Shoes: Naturalizers
Scarf: not sure, maybe H&M
Necklace: Alice Istanbul Jewelry on Etsy
Hair Accessory: Vintage, from Nostalgia

Where:
Work and Meetings in Union County

About the Vintage:
I hit a period of obsession with hair combs after learning how to use them to create vintage inspired hair styles, thanks to Super Kawaii Mama. I pick this cure little hair comb up at a local vintage/antique store called Nostalgia.

Comments:
I really am in love with these Oxfords. I almost didn't buy them, but figured that for $12 I really couldn't go wrong and now I'm really glad I bought them as I've wore then two days in a row now! I also really love this necklace. I wear it all the time. I'm a Pisces and I do love to represent my zodiac!

I always feel super chic when I go out into my rural counties in the kind of stuff I wear on a daily basis. It's not that people in the meetings I attend aren't dress nicely and even fashionably, but there's something about colored tight and oxfords in a town where most of the grocery shopping is done at Wal-Mart that makes me feel particularly fashionable. It's not even that my fashion sense is terribly fashion forward, in fact I'm not sure in New York or DC anyone would think twice about what I'm wearing or find it particularly fashion forward, but in rural Tennessee... it just stands out a bit more. I don't think my sense of style should take a hit just becuase I live and work in a rural area.

Tights: Welovecolors.com
Shoes: Naturalizers

Where:

Comments:
I went shopping this weekend with my mom and aunt in Gatlinburg, TN and racked up on some major deals on shoes I was already looking for. I got these super cute Naturalizers Oxfords for $12. I also got some booties from Naturalizers for $31. It was very exciting. Which inspired me to put together an outfit that featured my new shoes! I also love that these tights are a slate gray and not just a regular gray. They match my living room walls... which is beside the point... but proof that I am a big fan on this particular color.

What:
Sweater: Belk
Blouse: Ann Taylor LOFT
Jeans: Ralph Lauren, from Bloomingdale's
Shoes: Jessica Simpson, from Marshall's

Where:

Comments:
Yeah I know, the pants need to be tailored in the hips. But I was so excited to get these ADORABLE high-waisted jeans that I just had to go ahead and wear them, plus my tailor is in another city... I just wasn't willing to wait that long to wear them.

And the weather today was beautiful! I got to drive with the windows down for the first time in months. It makes me very antsy for dress weather.

Daily Outfit: Vintage Early 60s Coat

What:
Coat: Vintage, Frecklewonder's Etsy Store
Tights: We Love Colors
Dress: White House Black Market
Sweater: Ann Taylor LOFT
Belt: ModCloth
Shoes: BCBGirls, Nordstroms

About the Vintage:
So this coat is my latest find, and I must say its one of my favorites! I had been drooling over this beautiful coat for weeks and finally gave in and took a chance that the slightly too small measurements would work out in my favor and it would magically fit becuase I loved it so much. And as luck would have it, it did work out that way!

This early 60's Vintage Wool Coat is from Madison. It is fully lined and the tailoring is so beautiful. The details are spectacular. Such beautiful buttons and a gorgeous buckle detail on the back. I especially love the bracelet length sleeves. I feel fantastic when I wear this coat and am a bit less disgruntled about the long lasting snow and cold winter weather since it gives me a reason to wear this coat!

Lunch and Grocery Shopping.

Intro: Why I'm Here

So I decided that I want to blog about one of my favorite passed times: Antiquing and Vintage Clothing Shopping.

My house growing up was always full of antiques. All kinds of furniture passed down from family or picked up at this antique place or that. And I always loved the very homey and eclectic feel it gave our home. And that love of antiques has stuck with me.

Additionally I have always been drawn to the styles of the 40s and 50s. I look in the mirror and see a vintage beauty, like I would have fit in seamlessly in and earlier time. I love the silhouettes and details of vintage clothing and accessories.

Things were just made better back then, clothes, furniture, odds and ends. So this is my chronically of my found goods and the places I find them, or the stories about how they found me. Enjoy!
