Empties - April 2014 Products I've Used Up

I've been racking up empties pretty quickly, so I might as well show you my trash now!

I don't think I realized just how many body care and skincare products I was using up the past three months until I started filming, but seriously... so many. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my mini reviews of these products. Let me know in the comments below what products you've been using up recently and don't forget to subscribe to my Youtube channel for more videos!

Unboxing: US Graze Box, Number One

I am addicted to subscription boxes. If I won the lottery, I'd probably subscribe to them all just for fun. My co-worker alerted me about Graze Box a few weeks ago, because he knew I liked subscription boxes and was trying to eat healthier. Graze Box ticks both of those boxes.

What is Graze Box, you might ask? It's a portion controlled snack subscription box. They offer  "delicious, healthy, natural foods like nut and seed mixes, juicy dried fruits, tasty crackers, dips and dippers, and natural treats." I love the fact that the snacks they send are more on the natural side, but definitely not boring! And it's great that they are portion controlled because I can just pop one in my lunch bag and take it to work for a snack.

You can get your Graze Box delivered every two weeks or just once a month. I have mine set to every two weeks right now. I'm snacky just looking at my first box, so I almost wish I could have them every week!

Each box is $6, but if you want to give it a try you can get your 1st box (and 5th if you decide to stick with it) completely free with the code JENNIA4GB

Now on to what I got in my box!

Chili & Honey Almonds
Contains: roasted almonds seasoned with chili and honey.

I wasn't super excited about this one when I first opened the box because I don't always like spicy things. And to be honest, I don't hate it, but I probably wont be encouraging them to send them to me again. They had a little sweetness from the honey, but I found the spiciness to be too overpowering for my taste. Just eating one at a time it was kind of like getting punched in the throat with chili powder! If you like spicy things, then you'll actually probably love these, because the actual flavor is good... just too spicy for me personally. Justin loves spicy food and he told me not to trash them because he does like them (he thought they were only a little bit spicy. haha).

Key Lime Pie
Contains: lime raisins, mini meringues, sponge pieces, and green raisins.

It is definitely has the most sugar of the bunch, though only 108 calories, classifying it as light (that's apparently what the little feather means). I did definitely like this one, but I wouldn't give it a love. It does taste like a little modified Key Lime Pie when you put all the pieces together, so that was definitely fun. The meringue pieces were way too sweet for my taste, basically pure sugar. The rest of it, however, was quite good. I really liked both kinds of raisins and the sponge pieces added a nice texture and cut the sweetness of the raisins. If I got this again in another box I would toss out the meringues and just eat the raisins and sponge pieces.

Fruity Mango Chutney
Contains: fruity mango chutney with black pepper dippers.

I find the dippers to be one of the more interesting sections on the site. It's fun to see the different things paired with a sauce. This was a great change up to my normal work snacks.  My assumption was that this was going to be salty bread sticks with a sweet sauce. WRONG! Well not entirely, but the dippers are spicy with the black pepper and the mango chutney is sweet and flavorful with a serious kick from the cumin seeds. My mouth was still feelin' the burn for quite a while after eating these. I added these to the like category. I would definitely eat these again.

Contains: Belgian dark chocolate, cranberries, and pumpkin seeds.

This was by far my favorite of the bunch! And funny enough I'm usually not a huge chocolate fan. This one contains pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate buttons, and dried cranberries. Those Belgian chocolate discs were amazing. I mean seriously good. And when combined with the pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries it made a very interesting mix that actually reminded be a lot of the chocolate cherry KIND bars that I love so much. This one definitely goes in the LOVE category! Send me more Graze Box, send me more!

So overall I am VERY pleased with this box and incredibly excited to get my next one! The variety that I got was nice and there was nothing that I absolutely hated. The portion sizes were great because they are easy to take to work and keep me from overeating when I really enjoy the snack since there's a finite amount of each. So this is how I rated them on the site:

LOVE (send regularly): Florentine
LIKE (send occasionally): Key Lime Pie & Fruity Mango Chutney
TRY (happy to try): Chili and Honey Almonds (for Justin)
TRASH (never send me this): N/A

Again, if you want to try out Graze Box you can get your 1st and 5th boxes free with the the code JENNIA4GB! I'd love to hear what you think if you try it, and definitely what you get! The surprise aspect is definitely part of the fun for me!

*I received this box for free, by using another subscribers code, but this post is not sponsored and all opinions are my own.

Review: Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics

I received the Sunkissed VoxBox from Influenster about two weeks ago with several products to test and review and I have to say this has been my favorite Influenster box I've ever received!

When I opened the box and saw these hair ties, I got really excited. I am, as you will see, a BIG fan of this kind of hair tie. From the first time I received this style hair tie in a Birchbox two years ago, I have never used a regular hair tie again. But the name brand ones can be really expensive and even the Sephora brand ones are on the pricey end, so I was over the moon to see that now there’s a drugstore version that I can try out. If you can't tell I've tried a lot of different versions of these.

The Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics are knotted elastic hair bands made from a sort of ribbon-like material. They are great for my thick curly hair because they don’t get tangled and snag, but they also keep my hair nice and tightly pulled up. I am also very happy to see that these don’t stretch out as easily as some of the others I have tried out.

Now don't get me wrong, they DO stretch, but they stretch like the Sephora brand ones in that they still look exactly the same as they did when you bought them just looser. The Twistband ones get really wonky and crinkly and are not cute after a certain point. As you'll be able to see below the stretching on the Goody ones is noticeable, but they fit my wrist kind of snuggly to begin with (and I have pretty small wrists), so a little stretching is actually a good thing. I always have a hair tie on my wrist and I do like the way these look on the wrist and since they are made of soft material they don’t leave a mark on your wrist or feel really uncomfortable.

Overall, how do they compare to some of the others on the market? First off they look and basically feel exactly like the name brand and Sephora brand ones (the Twistband ones are a bit softer). The knot is bigger on the Goody ones and they are all different when it comes to size. The Goody ones (and the Sephora ones) don’t have the same stretching problem that the Twistband ones. And all of them hold my hair, don’t snag, or leave marks on my wrist equally as well.

What I will say is that I wish that Goody would come out with more colors and cute seasonal patterns. That’s one way that Twistband has them all beat, they have a bunch of amazing patterns, though it doesn’t make up for the stretching problem.

All in all, I would definitely recommend these. The quality is great, the style is great, and they are definitely affordable. COME OUT WITH MORE COLORS FOR ME TO HOARD GOODY!

Disclosure: I received this product complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster. All opinions are my own.

I Made a Video: Aka Products I've Used Up

I made a youtube video! Yeah I wanted to throw this stuff out so I made another Empties/Products I've Used Up video... in which I act like a total spaz and talk about how I'm a horrible blogger. There may be some actual helpful product reviews in there... but you might have to wade through me making faces and flailing. Enjoy!

And make sure to stay tuned to the end for some bloopers, aka Jenni acting like her normal ridiculous self in front of a camera. You're welcome. (oh and don't forget to change it to HD!)

I promise actual posts are in the near future.

Budgeting: April Budget

So the question is, did I stick to my April shopping ban for clothing and shoes, etc? And the answer is... yes! Haha. I think this might have been the first time I stuck to an intentional shopping ban. The first of the month was the hardest especially the part where I was in Goodwill helping the boy pick out shirts and pants and I REALLY wanted to go look at the skirts and see if they had any nice maxi skirts. But I stuck to my ban with help from Justin who I think found pleasure in reminding me not shop. Haha.

I did spend a bit of money on beauty stuff, but that was ok because I wasn’t banned from that. Here’s what I bought.

1 | 2 | 3

I ran out of my Juice Beauty moisturizer that is ridiculously expensive and was just assuming I wasn't going to be able to buy it again for awhile when I saw this special kit on with a full size of the moisturizer and samples of some other things in that line for $15 less than the full sized moisturizer alone costs... so that was a no brainer for me.

OOTD: Hat Time & Pattern Mixing

I'm happy to be sporting bare legs and a breezy dress. I took an accidental blogging break because I have been focusing hardcore on my eating and exercising habits. I started the Tone it Up Bikini Series two weeks ago, and I've been making some great progress. Much better than I ever have before on a health/fitness challenge. Basically just trying to make exercise part of my daily routine and eat more clean, lean, and green. It has definitely helped me to feel better and have more energy.
